"Mouse" Hall
About Mouse Hall
Truman “Mouse” Hall was born to Bill and Mini Hall in 1940. He received his Grandfather’s Blackfeet Name of Many Horses. Mouse is very proud to be ½ Blackfeet Indian and ½ Texan. Hall’s great grandfather, John E. Hall, came up to Montana on the first Cattle drive from Texas and married Josephine Mountain Chief, Daughter of Many Horses and granddaughter to famed war chief “Mountain Chief”. Many Horses raised horses before the Blackfeet Reservation was established, keeping his heard replenished by stealing horses from other tribes; he had approximately 500 head of horses in the 1800’s. His grandfather and his given name of “Many Horses” have inspired “Mouse” to raise horses as a young man. Raising Horses has been a family tradition since the 1800’s on both the white side and the Indian side. The Hall family has kept the horse breeding alive to the present time on the Blackfeet Reservation.

As a young man, “Mouse” has worked 5 events in Rodeo, starting when he was 14 years old. He rode in the Bareback, Saddle bronc, Calf Roping, Steer Wrestling and Team Roping. “Mouse” says he did not ride bulls because he has never seen a cowboy corral anything on a bull.

In 1980 “Mouse” purchased a horse with his friend, Gary Henderson, off of the Took Ranch in Ekalaka Mt. This young stud was taken to Yakima, in 1980, to the National High School Rodeo Finals. During the time of this rodeo, Mount St. Helens Erupted spewing ashes all over Washington, Idaho and Montana. The young stud was given the name “Eruption” for his ability to buck over the Yakima fair grounds arena. It was also in 1980 that a young bronc rider, Tom Reeves would cross paths with “Mouse” and the great bucking horse, “Eruption”. Later, Tom Reeves would win the National High School Rodeo Saddle Bronc Champion of the year.

This was the beginning of “Mouse” Hall’s bucking horse breeding program. “Mouse” has been breeding bucking horses with Flying 5 and Big Bend Rodeo Company sending several to the National Finals Rodeo to perform. You can look over the fence at many Pro Rodeos and see the brand “69” on many bucking horses and know that these horses were born and raised on the Blackfeet Reservation by “Mouse”.

In 2010 “Mouse” Hall and Tom Reeves have become full circle in life and their careers. Together, Hall and Reeves raise some of the best bucking horses in the world under the name of Wild Card Rodeo Company started by Tom Reeves.
